This year’s representative elections will be the last for the Student Union in its current form. The Central Election Committee approved the list of candidates in their meeting on 4 October 2017. The elections have a total of 249 candidates, which is more than ever before on this decade.
The following electoral alliances have candidates standing in the elections: Bosa Beer Party, Hallintotieteiden liitto, Keskeiset, Kokoomusopiskelijat, Kontakti, Luuppi_Puolue, Medaattorit, Sitoutumattomat kasvatustieteilijät, Sitoutumattomat yhteiskuntatieteilijät, Sosiaalidemokraatit, Tampereen yliopiston vihreä vasemmisto, Vapaaboomarit, Vihreä lista, Sinimusta Viheroikeisto. In addition to these, two candidates stand in the elections outside electoral alliances.
Mikko Lampo, the chair of Tamy’s Executive Board, is delighted with people’s enthusiasm over the elections: “It is nice to see that the representative elections have attracted so much attention! It is hardly possible to overemphasize how exciting it is that the elected representatives will be the last in our Student Union’s history. Tamy’s long story is nearing its end and the turning point brought about by the Tampere3 project, and we already look at the future student union activities of 2020.”
