Remember your first days in Finland? Was it nice to have a tutor to help you sort things out? Now it’s your chance to join the fun and become an international tutor for the academic year 2018–2019!
As an international tutor, your main task is to help incoming students to get started with their everyday life and studies here in Tampere. Tutoring will give you a chance to create new contacts with Finnish and international students and improve your language skills.
In the University of Tampere, international tutoring is done in pairs. Tamy and the International Office will help you by giving some guidelines, advice and training. In addition, your very own subject association will be there to back you up! In exchange, a tutor will receive a certificate, two ECTS credits, a remuneration and excellent experience on team leading. International tutoring also counts as a study attainment in your degree’s internationalization module. What it takes is some of your time – you need to be present in the last weeks of August and early September.
So, if you are a degree student at UTA and know that you’ll continue your studies here next semester, you are exactly what we are looking for! The deadline for recruitment is 3 April, so if you got interested, just give yourself in to the international tutoring organizer in your own subject association and tell your name, student number, a short description of your language skills as well as the academic terms when you are committed to be an international tutor. Trainings for international tutors will be organized 18 April 2018 at 3 p.m. as well as 13 August 2018.
Does your student association lack an international tutoring organizer? No worries, you can also contact the University’s International Office at intoffice at uta.fi. By letting them know your name, student number, a short description of your language skills as well as the academic terms when you are committed to be an international tutor by 4 April 2018, you can also participate in this fun!
Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact international (at) tamy.fi. Hoping to hear from you!
